Happy Mid Autumn Festival & SOULed OUT

Dear all, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone out there a Happy Mid Autumn Festival! 中秋节快乐! My understanding of Mid Autumn or Mooncake festival is to gather with your love ones, in Mandarin; 团圆. Then the whole lot will enjoy the beauty of the lunar and savor the delicious mooncakes. This year's Mid Autumn celebration has been really great for me. You and I know good friends don't come easy. But I was truly blessed to be able to come to know a group of ladies here which eventually become such dear friends to me. Knowing that my departure here is inevitable, it makes me all the more cherish what I have with them. All I can say is I sincerely thank them from my heart for their kindness and friendship they have showed me.

Okay, better not get too heavy hearted on a nice festival. ;) I want to share with you in this post of the bits and pieces of the things I enjoyed with my friends and family here, so bare with me. First thing is about these delicious mooncakes my neighbor cum good friends gave me. The first one is a special homemade mooncake. I don't really know where it is originated from or the name of it. But it's made by my friend's mom and given to me. ;D
It's packed full of peanuts, almonds, sesame seeds, orange peel, melon seeds and ham! Yes, ham...but don't be turned off by it, it actually taste pretty good! The fragrance from the nuts and sesame is nice and the surprising sweet and savory combination is great too. :)

The other mooncakes that I received from my other friend was also very special...well at least it's the first time I ate this kind of mooncake. ;D Jelly mooncake with flavored bean paste from Q Jelly Bakery Shop. Got 2 different flavors, one green tea and the other tiramisu.
Peronsally I like the green tea version better, perhaps its the presence of red beans in it, adding flavor and texture to it. ;) Tiramisu version has a strong coffee scent...nice but not my "cup of coffee", haha. :)
But again, it was still a delicious and special treat. ;0 Thanks so much dear friends! ;)

Something else I would like to blog about today is this great restaurant call SOULed OUT in Sri Hatamas which I dine @ with another group of my buddies last night. Somehow I forgotten to snap a picture on the outside of the restaurant, but it was pretty dark too. :P So let's cut the story short and go straight to the food we ordered last night. A couple of interesting and tasty drinks we ordered that night. The bright pink one is call Dragonfly....no, no fly in there, just that it's made with Dragonfruit, hahaha! My drink..., super nice, Mojito. ;P Don't you just love the bright colors!?This plate of fried chicken weeks was really good! The skin is so light, crispy and flavorful, you don't feel bad eating every bit of the skin, hahaha! Highly recommended. ;)
BBQ chicken pizza was pretty good too. It's thin crust dough, so it was crisp and light, not heavy at all. Plus the tangy BBQ sauce over the tender chicken bites and sweet onions was perfect. ;)
One of my friend ordered this Chicken Cordon Blue. A delicious French classic dish, where a chicken frank is rolled in ham, deep fried and served up with creamy mushroom sauce....nice!

Butter Chicken...which is an Indian dish, served with pickled vegetables, spiced rice, minty yohurt sauce and crispy crakers on the side. The butter chicken was not spicy, and the tender chicken chuncks in the creamy buttery curry was really excellent! Another good recommendation. ;)Last but not least, Beef Hor Fun. Tender pieces of beef and wok fried kueh tiao soaked in flavorful egg gravy...another thumbs up! Personally I love wok fried kueh tiao...so this is perfect for me. ;) Overall it was a wonderful dinning experience. Had a great time chatting with my friends too. Thanks ladies! Good food and good company...what more can I ask for? I just wished we could stay longer and not worry about the time. :-P Anyway, I'm sure there will be more of these great makan sessions with my friends, already looking forward to it, hahaha!
